Google unveils Pixel 11 phones, Watch 5, Tag and deeper Gemini features

Google on Wednesday introduced its latest Pixel smartphones, a new smartwatch, its first item tracker and expanded Gemini artificial intelligence features during its annual Made by Google event.The Pixel 11 series is powered by Google’s new Tensor G6 chip and starts with higher base storage and prices than last year’s models. The standard Pixel 11 begins at $899 with 256GB of storage, a $100 increase from the Pixel 10.

The Pixel 11 Pro starts at $1,099 and the Pixel 11 Pro XL at $1,299. A foldable Pixel 11 Pro Fold is priced from $1,899.All three non-foldable models feature a redesigned camera bar that is more than 40% thinner and finished in all-glass. Google says the change makes the phones more pocketable and nearly flush when used with an official case.

The main camera sensor has been upgraded to 48 megapixels with 56% greater light sensitivity for improved low-light photography and video.The Pro models add improved drop resistance and a new anti-scratch display coating that Google claims offers more than twice the scratch resistance of the previous generation.

also launched the Pixel Watch 5 with updated health tracking, low-latency Gemini features and proactive alerts.

In a new category for the company, it introduced Pixel Tag, a small finder device designed to compete with Apple’s AirTag. Users can attach it to keys or luggage and locate items through Google’s Find Hub network.The hardware is tightly integrated with Gemini.

Google highlighted more proactive assistance, Magic Capture for selecting the best frames from video, and on-device Gemini Nano capabilities running on the Tensor G6.

Voice interactions continue to grow, with the company noting that a majority of Gemini app users already rely on voice input.Pre-orders for the new devices opened Wednesday.

The phones are scheduled to arrive in stores and through the Google Store on Aug. 20. Available colors for the Pixel 11 include Frost, Obsidian, Hibiscus and Pistachio.The event continues Google’s strategy of using its Pixel line as a showcase for Gemini-powered features while making incremental hardware improvements focused on cameras, durability and everyday usability.
